Obedience Classes
Family Pet Program:
Beginner 1: Our 6 week class was designed with the needs of the family pet in mind. Focus is on basic commands, including sit, stand, down, stay, come and walking on a loose lead.
Beginner 2: This 4 week continuation class begins the process of extending the skills learned in the Beginner 1 class. Distance, time and distraction are added to exercises. The basics of heelwork are taught and all exercises become more precise.
Advanced Beginner: This 6 week class is for those dog and handler teams that have completed the Beginner 1 and 2 course or with approval of the class instructor. In this learning phase, students continue to build and perfect the skills previously learned. Additional exercises include, distance recalls, finishes, formal sit and down stays, and an introduction to basic Rally exercise. Students are encouraged to repeat this class.
Pre-Novice: The emphasis here is on more formal obedience. Students prepare to obtain the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizenship Certification. In this 6 week class dog and handler teams will start working toward requirements for the Novice program. Students are encouraged to repeat this class.
